I beg to move- THAT, Clause 9 of the Bill be amended by inserting the following new subclause immediately after subclause (2)— (2A) The Cabinet Secretary shall put in place mechanisms to ensure that adolescents undergoing postpartum care receive counselling services to encourage them to maintain and care for their children. Madam Temporary Chairperson, this amendment is critical. In my long journey in practice, we have young mothers who the moment the child pops out, they say, “Sitaki mtoto”. However, if they had been counselled, they would accept to go home with the child. I thank you."
