    "content": "Hon. Temporary Speaker, as we speak, the doctor to patient ratio, as you would want to call it, is currently one doctor to almost 50,000 patients. In other areas, the situation is even worse. When it comes to nurses, who are the closest in that category, the nurse to patient ratio is one nurse to almost 3,000 patients, which is unacceptable. The only way to reduce that gap is to mainstream community health workers in primary health service. The absence of adequate healthcare personnel aid disease progression, resulting in statistics that may not be good. The child survival rate in Kenya is below the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets. It is said that in some parts of the world, out of every 1,000 live births, 18 die; and out of those who survive, 37 die before attaining the age of five. Other areas have a higher mortality rate."
