    "content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to support this Motion because it is extremely important that, as a nation, we need to recognise what is happening all over the world. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I know everybody is very familiar with the words \"global village\". Therefore, it means, we do not live in isolation. Consequently, issues that our Members of Parliament have been engaged in continentally should be taken seriously. These are the things going to determine the direction the world will take. I want to emphasize the issue of environment as pertains to the environmental changes that have taken place globally. In some parts of this country, this matter has not been taken seriously. This is particularly so when we look at the debate on Mau Forest and other water catchment areas in this country. The Aberdares, Mt. Kenya region and all other water catchment areas have been badly interfered with. Settlements have come up in these places and as a result, this country is facing serious environmental degradation and water shortage.
