    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1) to seek a statement from the Standing Committee on Information, Communication and Technology regarding efforts to combat the proliferation of counterfeit phones and digital products in Kenya. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Find out the specific actions taken by the Communication Authority (CA) of Kenya, including measures initiated in collaboration with other regulatory bodies to prevent the entry and sale of counterfeit phones and digital products, explaining why previous measures have not been effective. (2) Describe how the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) ensures accountability in regulating substandard devices and outline the penalties imposed on businesses found selling counterfeit products, providing data on cases that led to legal action in 2023/2024.
