"content": "3. Extension service delivery. During the first quarter of 2009, seven fish farmersâ field days were conducted in the region where 5,957 farmers were sensitized on opportunities available in fish farming. My Ministry sensitized the public on fisheries opportunities during the cultural day held in Zombe last year. During the same period, six Common Interest Groups (CIG), with a total membership of 104 farmers were trained on fish farming and aqua- business skills. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, two fish farmers groups have been trained on good fish pond management practices. Also, the groups have been advised to fill the NjaaMarufuku Kenya forms to ask for funds in the coming financial year. In the same constituency, 27 farmersâ exchange visits were carried out to share experiences among producers. In addition, a total of 156 visits were conducted as a follow-up extension service to farmers. Through collaboration with the Arid Lands Resource Management Programme, based in Kitui, the Ministry has managed to get pond liners for six fish farmers as follows:- 1. Nguthu Musyoki - 100 square metres. 2. Dominic Kathuku - 80 square metres."
