"content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I rise on behalf of Sen. (Prof) Tom Odhiambo Ojienda, SC. I rise pursuant to Standing Order 53(1) to seek a statement from the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries regarding the devastation caused by the 40-minute hailstorm that occurred in Nyakatch Sub-county in Kisumu County on the 25th of October 2024, leading to the destruction of crops and livestock. In the statement, the committee should- (1) Provide details of the total damage caused by the hailstorm that occurred in Nyakatch Sub-county, Kisumu County on 25th October 2004. (2) Indicate where the Kisumu County Disaster and Emergency Management Fund can be utilized to compensate individuals who suffered losses due to the hailstorm. (3) Outline any measures put in place by the County Government to mitigate similar losses and ensure farmers are adequately compensated in the event of such calamities."
