"content": "when we were in Naivasha for a retreat of the Senate, we all agreed that we should give priority to business or proposals that are of urgent need to the people of Kenya. If you look at today’s Order Paper and probably yesterday’s, you can see I have other important Bills. One of them is Equitable Development of Wards by Governors. That is a very important Bill that tells the governors that they have to equitably develop the wards across the country. Some governors will always skip some wards if they do not get the support from the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs). The Senators that contributed yesterday said that we need to consolidate all bursaries so that we can make secondary education free. That is one of the other proposals I have in this Senate. Therefore, I have decided to drop the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill (Senate Bills No.31 of 2023) - not that I do not believe in it. I believe in it because it is holiday economics. However, before we get there as Kenyans and understand how important it is, let us first of all discuss issues that for sure will benefit the Kenyans today, not tomorrow."
