    "content": "The claim was filed in January 2006 before the Geneva Tribunal of 1st Instance claiming US$12,716,125, plus penalty interest and costs. We have filed a defence denying liability on the basis of illegality of the contracts. In May 2008, our Ms. Muthoni Kimani, Senior Deputy Solicitor-General gave evidence on the status of the contract and the criminal investigations by the KACC. In October 2008, the Republic filed a legal opinion by a leading expert on English Law, Mr. Collin Nicholas QC, on the effect of a contract founded on an illegality. The claimant filed their legal expert opinion in November 2008 and we are waiting for the ruling from the court."
