I believe that it is our duty, especially those of us who are in the Government, to do something about it. We can import maize when we can empower our farmers to produce it. I have tried to prevail upon my colleagues in the Cabinet and Parliament that we concentrate on the farmer. We should make sure that the farmer in Kenya is receiving all the support. If we do so, we will produce enough beans, maize and sorghum to be consumed by Kenyans. At the same time, we could export the commodities. We, as a Government, have not been serious in food production."
