"content": " Madam Temporary Speaker, I do not know why the Senate Majority Whip is animated this afternoon and why he wants to announce to the students that I have not been around for a while but it is only last week and I have been coming in the evenings after class at five o'clock. So, I want to join you in welcoming these pupils and teachers from Golden Plains Academy, Kitengela, Kajiado County. There are eight teachers and 41 pupils who are in the Senate for a one-day academic exposition. It is always an interesting time when students get an opportunity to watch the proceedings of the House. It is unfortunate that by the time these students arrived, many of our colleagues have already checked out for the day, but it does not mean that they are not working. We have immediately after this wall, there is what is referred to as a Senators Lounge where many of our colleagues follow debates from the House and if there is a need for them to come and respond to something, they walk back into the House. It does not mean that if you see the chairs empty, it goes without a fact that Senators are not around. I can tell you that had you been here at 2.30 p.m., the House would have been nearly full. So, I hope they get to interact with the Senators, learn and get to understand what is happening. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate."
