"content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to extend my warm regards to the students in the gallery and to welcome them to this ‘Upper’ House, the Senate of Kenya. As you can see, this is not a House exclusively for older men. It is a House where women are represented, alongside a number of young legislators. First and foremost, I want you to feel welcome. Additionally, I urge you to learn not only from the work we do here, but also from our mistakes, so that you can avoid repeating them when you eventually join this House in the future. I also wish to extend a warm welcome to the delegation from Ghana. Ghana is like my second home. I have studied and worked there, and I have a large family in Ghana. In fact, I have even been given a name in Ghana—they call me Emefa, derived from Ewe. Please, feel welcomed. I look forward to connecting outside of the Chamber over a cup of tea to discuss further opportunities for collaboration and building on the strong relationship we already share. Thank you."
