He also spearheaded the call for the establishment of the naval base at Lake Victoria in Kisumu to protect Kenya’s territorial waters shared with Uganda and Tanzania. The late Hon. Nyagudi also advocated for equality and inclusivity before the law, as evidenced by Parliamentary Questions. Notably, in 2005, he questioned the justification for vetting Kenyan Muslims as a condition precedent to the issuance of national identification cards (ID). He also pushed for the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to allocate longer examination time to physically challenged students in national examinations. He also served diligently as a Member of the Library Committee. After several attempts to recapture his parliamentary seat, he exited active politics.
