"content": "Access to clean and sustainable water is not only a right under Article 43 of the Constitution but is also a key driver and cornerstone for economic growth, public health and environmental sustainability. To this end, the Wajir Water and Sewerage System project was initiated under the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation to provide clean water and an elaborate sewerage system in Wajir Town. The project was earmarked to benefit from World Bank funding under the Water and Sanitation Development Project (P156634) of 2017. Regrettably, the project, which has immense transformative potential of the project in alleviating chronic water shortages, fostering economic vitality, and significantly uplifting the quality of life for Wajir Town's residents, has been faced with inexplicable delays. These prolonged delays have hindered the realisation of this critical water and sanitation infrastructure project, necessitating the urgent need to expedite its completion so as to address the pressing challenges facing the community as intended, notably equitable access to water resources and enhancement of the resilience and prosperity of the people of Wajir."
