    "content": "What is particularly concerning is that a journey that should typically take approximately four hours is reduced to under two hours by speeding miraa transporters. This practice has caused significant loss of lives and serious injuries, including the tragic death of two people two days ago, with two others sustaining severe injuries. This situation raises serious concerns about commercial interests flourishing at the expense of human life, contrary to Article 26(a) of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to life. It is against this background that I seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure on the following: 1. Immediate and long-term measures the Ministry is taking to curb frequent accidents caused by miraa transport vehicle along the Nairobi-Meru Highway. 2. Actions being taken to ensure that miraa transport sector complies with the Traffic Act (Cap. 403) and prioritise road safety and human life, in line with Article 26 of the Constitution. 3. Any policy or legislative interventions to regulate the Miraa Transport Sector and hold drivers accountable to the law. I, thank you, Hon. Speaker.
