In reading the history of gangsters and gangsterism, a study of the La Cosa Nostra who were the Mafia of Italy, reveals that there is an interconnection between the actual operators and judicial officers, political class, some business people and the police. I am saying this because in that case study, it was found that those who were involved in illegal activities would buy protection from the police and judicial officers so that when their people are arrested, they could secure their freedom or receive very lenient sentences."
