    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.56(1)(b) of the Senate Standing Orders to make a statement regarding the activities of the Standing Committee on Land, Environment and Natural Resources during the period February to April 2025. The Standing Committee on Land, Environment, and Natural Resources is established under Standing Order No.228(3) of the Senate Standing Orders. It is mandated to consider all matters related to lands and settlement, environment, forestry, wildlife, mining, water resource management and development as well as aspects of climate change During the period under review, the Committee held 23 meetings. It considered one Bill, seven Petitions, one legislative proposal and 13 Statements. The Committee met with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry as well as the Ministry of Interior and National Administration regarding pending legislative business. Through these meetings, the Committee obtained comprehensive responses to eight Statements from the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry and shared them with the respective Senators. Additionally, responses from the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage have been dispatched to the respective Senators. Hon.
