"content": "Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I will make my comments in five minutes. Before I make a comment, allow me, on my behalf and that of my family, and on behalf of the great people of Nandi County, to pass my deepest condolences to the family of the late Father Alois Cheruiyot Bett, who was unfortunately killed in Tot area. He was the parish priest of St. Matthias Mulumba Parish in Tot, Elgeyo, Marakwet County. I condole with the family, the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret, led by Bishop Dominic Mengich, the Catholic Church, and the entire region, especially Nandi County and Kilibwoni Area. I hope justice will not only be done to him, but also to his family and all of us, so that we know who the killers are. I would like to assure the people of Nandi County and the family that I will not sit until justice is done following the killing of Father Alois Cheruiyot Bett, who was unfortunately killed by criminals. I hope peace will return to Kerio Valley. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the second point that I would like to make is that I am surprised that in Nandi County, we have Karebe Gold Mining Limited. Mines. Some of the owners of Karebe Gold Mining Limited are based in Germany and Britain, yet there are no royalties that Nandi County has gotten. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, are you aware that Karebe Gold Mining Limited is listed in the United States of America (USA), that they are paying $200 million. However, we are not seeing that on the principle of local content, 50-20-10. It is not here. I, therefore, would like to challenge the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance and Budget that, it is not fair to the people of Chemelil, Chemase, Tinderet and the great people of Nandi, because we have gold. The Senate Majority Leader, if you are not aware, I will organize a visit, so that you see where we have gold at the Karebe gold mines."
