"content": "It is deeply concerning that the number of children who are out of school has been on the rise in the recent years. According to the assessment report which was launched in 2023, the percentage of children aged six to 15 years who are out of school increased from 7.5 per cent in 2021 to 8.5 per cent in 2023. That is particularly, evident in rural areas, including Othaya Constituency in Nyeri County, where many day secondary schools that previously had the capacity to accommodate between 300 and 400 students are now operating well below their capacity, with several day secondary schools registering fewer than 50 students."
