Jakoyo Midiwo, MP Mr. Speaker, Sir, in moving this list of Members that comprise the House Business Committee, it is understood that the various political parties namely, the PNU and ODM did consult. We can see a certain amount of continuity. It is a new requirement that, at least, a third of Members be Backbenchers. That is why we have introduced, for instance, on the PNU Coalition the names of Ms. Shakila Abdalla, Mr. Adan Keynan and Mr. George Thuo. I believe the same has happened on the ODM Coalition. That is why we can see new names like Dr. Robert Monda, Mr. Francis Chachu and Mr. Thomas Mwadeghu. This is meant to make us comply with the requirements of the new Standing Orders. I know it is always not an easy matter to agree on the names of Members to be in the House Business Committee. It is said that the House Business Committee is the most âthankless Committeeâ. This is because the Members who sit in this Committee are not even paid any sitting allowance, as opposed to Members of other House Committees. We will discuss the composition of the 27 new Standing Committees. I believe that Members who will not have occasion to serve in the House Business Committee will, at least, serve in one of the 27 Departmental Committees that have now been established under the new Standing Orders. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to commend this list before the House for adoption and, similarly, ask hon. M. Kilonzo to second this Motion."
