"content": "County Governments (Revenue Raising Process) Bill, which is currently before Parliament for consideration. I urge this honourable House to consider the Bill and prioritise its enactment. Hon. Speaker, I will now turn to tax policy measures supporting the Financial Year 2025/2026 Budget. These measures include proposals contained in the Finance Bill, 2025, as well as the customs duty measures agreed upon by the East African Community (EAC) Ministers for Finance during the EAC Pre-Budget Meeting held in May this year, which I attended. These measures are set to take effect from 1st July 2025. The freedoms we enjoy in this country have not come easy. In the last couple of years, Kenyans have spoken clearly and loudly on the desired direction in development of policy and governance of taxation. In 2023, the Minority Party in Parliament, supported by the efforts of the then Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Chairman, protested against the Finance Act, 2023."
