"content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, with regard to the way forward, we have written a letter to Mumias Sugar Company requesting them to tell us whether they want to put up a factory or not. If they do not want to put up one, then they should release the land to the KSB. They have replied to our letter and they have said that if we pay them Kshs114 million, they will be willing to move out. We have some inquiries from other investors who want to build a factory in that area. Currently, the cane which is being produced there is 9,000 metric tonnes, but they have a capacity of 25,000 metric tonnes which they can grow in that area."
