On 11th February, 2009 I asked for a Ministerial Statement from the Minister for Agriculture regarding the serious food situation in the country, and a Ministerial Statement was to be tabled in this House. Sometime back, the Assistant Minister for Agriculture promised this House that maizemeal would be sold at Kshs52 for a two-kilogramme packet. He also laid on the Table two packets of two kilogrammes of maize flour, which was to sell at Kshs52 and Kshs72."
