"content": "As I support this Motion, I wish to take note of a Question that was on the Floor of this House today on the issue of farmers' arrears in Chemilil Sugar Company (CSC). An excuse was given by the Minister for Agriculture that because of burnt cane during the crisis that we had after the elections, that company cannot pay farmers. Other sugar milling companies also had similar problems, but they are still paying farmers. That company must tell the Government the truth about why it is not paying farmers. It is paying contractors, harvesters and those who weed the sugar-cane, suppliers, transporters and employees. Why are farmers the only people who have been left out? If there were those problems, then they should affect everybody. Why is it that only farmers are affected?"
