I hope that, after what we have gone through for the last four or five months, we will be able to realise that we cannot be always fire-fighting calamities that come, whether natural or otherwise. We need to consciously plan for things that will help this country beyond the famine. In particular, I hope that Members of Parliament will push for more money to be allocated to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, to cater for irrigation, because that surely is the way to go, when we look at the issue of climate change and the fact that we may not have adequate rain in the future.
