    "content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, he is one literary artist who believed that language is not just a tool of communication, but also a carrier of people's culture and is at the centre of shaping of the identity of our people. That is why he wrote quite a number of works in his mother tongue, including the play titled Ngaahika Ndeenda, translated to “I will marry when I want,” in 1977, which actually landed him in trouble with the Government of the day. He was put in and, finally, the UNICEF and other international bodies identified him and said that this man is a prisoner of conscience and pushed for his release.
