"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to state here that the officers in the North Eastern Province are well equipped. As we speak, we have satellite research and laboratory institutions all over the country. I know that the Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute (KEVEVAPI) is based in Garissa. It takes care of North Eastern and Upper Eastern. We have one in Mombasa, at Mariakani and we have another in Eldoret that takes care of the upper Rift Valley. I know that the Ministry has a problem with staff but I want to assure this House - I have done it several times - that currently as we speak, the Public Service Commission (PSC) is interviewing and is going to employ 600 veterinary surgeons to increase the human resource capacity of the Ministry of Livestock Development."
