    "content": "(b) The Ministry gazetted the former Iguhu Health Centre as the district hospital for the new Kakamega District in August, 2008. This followed the split of the former Kakamega South District into three districts. The gazettement signified the intention of the Ministry to progressively upgrade the facility to a district hospital status as funds become available. Construction of a theatre and supply of equipment are expected to commence between 2009 and 2012. In the meantime, residents of Kakamega South District have access to established facilities within a radius of 15 kilometres."
