    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, in 2007, a total of 32.5 million bags of 90-kilogrammes, of maize were harvested in the country. In 2008, 25.2 million bags, of 90-kilogrammes, of maize were harvested. The big drop in production is attributed to a massive crop failure and high cost of farm inputs. The big drop was further enhanced by the proportion of maize destroyed during the post-election violence and which is estimated to be 3.5 million bags."
