    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for this very brief opportunity to contribute to this very important Finance Bill. Let me start by thanking the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance for the manner he has moved this Bill in this House. In my view, indeed, it is very timely. I was excited by the commitment by the Minister to make sure that the cost of living, particularly among the very vulnerable in the society, is being addressed. It will not be possible to address the current trend on the cost of living if certain areas are not really addressed properly. Let me start by saying that I am happy with the good work that is being executed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). It is important for this very important body to address itself to tax evasion by very prominent businessmen in this country. There are also people who have, time and again, refused to honour this responsibility. I note that for the last couple of years, the KRA has been able to meet its targets. It is, therefore, important as the demands of this country continue to increase the KRA must be committed to collecting more revenue."
