The Central Depositories and Settlement Corporation is currently the only approved central depository. The procedures for the establishment of the operations and oversight of the central depository are governed under the Central Depository Act, 2000. In view of the recent marked growth in market volumes, there is need to amend the legislation to address some of the challenges witnessed in the operations."
