What form does this encouragement take? Does it mean that they are undermining the independence of the Judiciary because the sentencing policy is a judicial function to which the Executive arm should never be involved in? Is the Leader of Government Business not admitting that just as they are doing with respect to performance contracts and the taxation of the Judiciary, this is another method of interfering with judicial independence in this country?"
