"content": "made any effort to fence it off as it has been done elsewhere like in Mt. Kenya where the forest has been fenced off. Despite the suffering that was caused to the people who were evacuated from Mt. Kenya, this can also be adapted in various other water catchment areas. I believe Cherangany Hills is one of the areas that qualify for such an action because I believe the future of our country and its neighbours is far more important than individual gains that are made by those people who are settled there. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, in the process of resettling them, I believe the Government can go into compulsory acquisition of some of the arable land in the wider Trans Nzoia District and resettle the people there. They should vacate the Cherangany Hills so that they can be reafforested, so that the water catchment area is preserved. I believe Mr. Kaino's reason for bringing this Motion is very honourable and I believe we should all support it so that we can actually preserve the water catchment areas that affect not just this country but all our neighbouring countries. Thank you."
