    "content": " Mr. Speaker, Sir, in fact, I was giving supplementary information because of the questions raised by other hon. Members. However, I will continue with the answer. (b) If there is any connection between oil exploration and the cancer cases in Kargi, it requires more investigations on our part and the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation. So far, we have not identified any connection between oil exploration and the cancer cases. (c) My Ministry has always monitored the operations of oil exploration companies to ensure that they undertake their activities within the requirements of the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act and the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act, Chapter 308 of the Laws of Kenya. The enforcement of the existing laws, therefore, provides the necessary instruments for ensuring that areas where oil exploration is taking place do not become dumping grounds for toxic wastes by oil companies."
