However, I want to bring to his attention the fact that Yatta Canal, which was constructed during the colonial times, is a 50-kilometre canal which flows into Mwitasyano River. That means that it serves another 100 kilometres. In the other canal, the water flows to a maximum of 30 kilometres. There is no water in the other 30 kilometres. This affects areas like Kithendu, Matuu Town and Kateki, where there would be serious horticultural growing. In the last financial year, Kshs10 million was given for the same design, which was done.
