"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we are not discriminating against any region. The Government policy is generally to provide an enabling environment for business and industry to thrive. In other words, we want an economy which is private sector-driven. Having said that, there are certain areas that we classify as strategic. They could be strategic for the time being. However, finally, they are left to be run by the private sector. The revival of Kenya Meat 1486 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES July 1, 2008 Commission (KMC) and the Kenya Co-operative Creameries (KCC) fall under that category. For the time being we want to have Government intervention in an attempt to create, once again, a viable sector, which can be handed over to private business people. In fact, pigs are not just reared in Kiambu or Lari but countrywide. Therefore, all the farmers at the moment have an outlet, that is the Farmers Choice or the Nairobi Airport Services (NAS)."
