That is why the Government is willing to put money into this market, so that we can intervene, as the Government, at the inputs level. We are discussing with the Kenya Seed Company and we have put plans in place to reduce the cost of seed by about 30 per cent. We are, as a Ministry, working on ways of reducing the cost of fertilizer by about 30 per cent to 40 per cent. We are working towards accessing credit for farmers from 15 per cent to about 7.5 per cent. All those exercises go towards reducing the cost of producing food. Ultimately, it is the plan of my Ministry to pass on the positive effects of reduced cost of farm inputs to the consumer. We need to have food produced in large quantities and be affordable."
