    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not know whether the Member was keenly listening to my reply. I told him clearly that these are neither financial institutions nor banks. The Central Bank of Kenya is only responsible for supervising banks and financial institutions. Because the Central Bank of Kenya was concerned about these pyramid schemes, the Banking Anti-Fraud Investigation Department ordered banks to check, under the known customer regulations, those schemes which, were banking with them. It is because of that, that those accounts which, were known to be operating pyramid schemes, were frozen. Otherwise, the Central Bank of Kenya has no role to supervise illegal institutions!
