"content": " Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. My names are Adan Duale, the Member of Parliament for Dujis Constituency. First, I want to thank the people of Dujis Constituency for electing me to the Tenth Parliament. At the same time, I want to thank my opponent who accepted the democratic will of the people of Dujis Constituency. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I support the Motion on the Presidential Speech. This is because this country is in a very critical moment. This country and this Parliament has the responsibility to promote peace and reconciliation. It is up to this Parliament to provide an environment of healing and an avenue for reconciliation. It is also up to this Parliament to give Kenyans the sense of hope that we are one nation, one tribe and one country. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank and pay tribute to the mediation team led by Dr. Kofi Annan. I also want to thank the international community led by the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), the United States of America (USA) and the United Nation (UN). Finally, I want to pay tribute to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, hon. Mwai Kibaki, and the Prime Minister-designate, hon. Raila Odinga, for rising above party and personal interests for the sake of peace and prosperity of this nation. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I come from an area that was marginalised by all the successive Governments. If we need to talk about equity, we should talk about equal opportunity. If we have to talk about one nation, then we must talk about one nation that has equal resources and equitable development in terms of infrastructure and education. We must talk of a nation where the son and daughter in Lamu, Garissa, Nyeri and Bondo districts have equal access to education, health and everything. I come from a region where the basic economic sector, which is livestock, has been marginalised."
