Member of this House and the active role that you have played particularly in guiding this House on the various legislations that have come before this House, I have no doubt in my mind that the collective wisdom of this House in electing you as Speaker is well founded. Your own speech, in accepting the election, testifies to that. I can only take from the Bar - and you are a lawyer - and I am titular head of the legal profession in this country, I take pride in you sitting there. I know that you will make a success of that seat. All of us here are bound to work very closely with you, to ensure and make your task, which in itself is onerous, slightly easier by following the Standing Orders of Parliament."
