    "content": "The Committee is withdrawing the amendment which it had proposed. I was giving the reasons why we are withdrawing it. We are doing so because the proviso has been deleted; it is not on the Order Paper and it is not part of the amendment. So, for that reason, if we are not going to take into account the matters that were factored into that proviso, the Committee does not feel able. This independence of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is a fiction in this country. We do not want the Judiciary to be packed with incompetent people, who are hand-picked without any measure of verification. It is better to stay the way we are until there is a new Constitution where there will be provisions for verification and vetting of Judges by the House. So, we, as a Committee, are withdrawing the amendment we had proposed."
