(a) Yes, I am aware that Peace Committees in the North Rift of the Rift Valley Province are informal and perform voluntary work. (b) There are no provisions of motor vehicles or budgetary allocations for allowances for the Peace Committees. However, respective District Commissioners in the North Rift districts are under clear instructions to always avail motor vehicles whenever the committees intend to go out for peace building and conflict resolution meetings. Other stakeholders such as Oxfam and Arid Lands Resource Management Projects have also been assisting in paying allowances to the committees in their operations."
