"content": " Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have taken enough forces there. We have over 600 police officers operating in that area. However, because of this guerilla-tactic attack by the criminals, it is not easy. I have already given the number of criminals killed, those facing criminal charges in court and those being looked for. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as for the use of armed forces, there is no special skill that they have that the police do not have. In fact, the armed forces are trained specifically to defend the country against external attack. In this particular instance, there is no external attack. So, we do not see any need to deploy the armed forces in matters that can be dealt with by the police. They are actually trained to deal these particular matters. We are doing our best to equip the police within the available budgetary allocations given. We have sent the best trained police officers to that area. 2952 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES August 2, 2007 They are well equipped, but it is the nature of the activities of these criminals. We are sure that with time, we will deal with this problem once and for all. Just the same way we have managed the Mt. Elgon District problem."
