"content": " Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. At the moment, my Ministry does not have adequate resources to provide every girl with sanitary towels free of charge. Currently, the Ministry is only able to provide the 1.2 million women who deliver annually with one packet each, at total cost of Kshs50 million. However, since the duty on sanitary towels was removed during the 2005/2006 Financial Year, this has not yet brought the cost of these towels down. July 25, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2769 In view of the above, it will be more appropriate for the Ministry of Education to take up this issue as one of the strategies of keeping girls in school, by providing, at least, five packets per term per poor girl as part of the school kit."
