    "content": " Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first, I want to very respectfully agree with the Chair entirely on its interpretation of the law. It cannot be open to the Attorney-General to discuss matters that are pending in court, for example, the merits or demerits of actions taken by judicial officers. Having said that, I want to reassure this House, as my first act as the Attorney- General, that I am personally, and my office, committed to a criminal justice system that is fair, expeditious; that considers and treats the Kenyan people in the manner anticipated by our new Constitution. This House, in its wisdom, and the Kenyan people in their wisdom decided to transfer the powers of criminal prosecutions from the Attorney-General to the DPP. I will do everything in my power to ensure that the sentiments of this House are transmitted to the office of the DPP. That office should bring to the prosecution system a more sensitive attitude to the rights of accused persons."
