However, I am aware that, as is the requirement of the recruitment procedures of the Armed Forces, it is mandatory that the fingerprints of all successful candidates for enlistment are taken and forwarded to the CID Headquarters to determine any previous criminal involvement. In the case of the named constabularies, they were found to have criminal entries after they had retired from the Armed Forces and, therefore, could not be retained in the service.
