"content": "April 25, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 881 (b) I hereby table a list showing the names of Kenyans working in various United Nations offices and the African Union, their grades and positions as at 31st January, 2007. (c) (i) Kenya's quota in the African Union is eight professionals recruited members of staff, hence the same is fully utilised. (ii) The quota system in the United Nations is allocated according to a country's contribution to the budget of the United Nations. Our annual contribution is approximately 0.1 per cent of the total budget. It varies from year to year on a pro- rata basis. Therefore, our quota is relatively small. In addition, due to the fact that we host the United Nations office in Nairobi, the employment of Kenyans, particularly in the general service cadre of over 700 in number, has made our quota full in other United Nations bodies and agencies. (d) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established an international Jobs and Diaspora office, which will ensure a more co-ordinated approach in identifying and securing jobs for Kenyans in international and regional organisations. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I was supposed to table the names of Kenyans. Somehow, the list is missing, but I will pass it on."
