The Ministry has set up a task force to review modalities and criteria for honouring heroes and heroines as well as to determine modes of compensation for surviving freedom fighters and their families. The Ministry is drafting a legal framework which is now in its formative stages which, once enacted will enable the Government to compensate freedom fighters and other national heroes and heroines."
