"content": " Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, the current Section 203 basically says that an insurance company must admit liability, determine the amount due, establish identity and then has 60 days in which to pay. When I discussed this issue 4098 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES November 30, 2006 with the Committee, we felt the time was not defined within which the admission of liability has to take place. Companies have been taking advantage of this provision to delay payment of claims forever. So, we needed to limit the time for payment of claims to 90 days. If the insurance company has reason as to why it cannot admit liability, then it will give those reasons within the 90 days. It will not be allowed to sit for two years and then wake up and say it cannot admit liability."
