However, Kirinyaga District is a catchment area for many rivers in Kenya, and particularly River Tana, and due to the previous heavy rains and the current rains falling, that area has lost so much soil through erosion. When it rains, as it is now, most of the water flows to the Indian Ocean. What provision does the Ministry have to construct dams upstream River Tana, so that this menace can be stopped?"
