The role of the police and other law enforcement agencies in political rallies and public meetings is to ensure that law and order is maintained. They are supposed to ensure that the life and property of citizens are protected. Subsequently, they are also supposed to ensure that those attending and organizing the meetings do so according to the laid-down procedures. The Police Act, Cap.84 and the Public Order Act, Cap.57 give detailed roles of the police officers during such functions."
